ss or xr6 turbo

Hey guys currently have a vx ss with 220000 on the clock so think its to old to start modding so want to upgrade. I want about 300rwkw maybe more. I can prob buy a vz or even ve and super charge it or get a fg xr6 turbo n spend only few grand on it and have over 300rwkw. I have driven a fg xr6 turbo and it seemed fast even tho it was stock so I think a modded one would be fun but havnt really driven any modded ss's. I love the sound of a v8 but tempted to go the turbo because guys are getting so much power for little money.

anyone on here driven both and can tell me what they prefered and why

With a LSx you don't need a blower for 300rwkw, But either way.

A V8 with 300rwkw has a less than desirable fuel economy

A Xr6 Turbo with 400rwkw will still give you 10'ish ltr/100km on a long drive.

Mine makes 395rwkw and currently sitting on 11.8L/100K. At a guess I have spent around $10K and that included $1k for a tailshaft. Don't know too many 400rwkw SS's that have had $10k spent on them that idle and sound almost standard and get good fuel economy.

Mate FG hands down.. Only buy the VE if you have an undesirable urge to drive a 6.0L V8..

XR6T for sure. Much cheaper to mod for much greater gains.

300 is basically the bench mark for a hot street car. Something that won't guzzle juice, be reliable and have the minerals to run a 12 easily.
If you have to ask, you will never understand.

Of course a sheet can be fudged, but not everyone goes to the track so it's the best we have.
