SS VY 2 Performance

A crude way to tell if your car is under-performing or not.

Holden states for a VY SS 0-100kmh of 5.82 secs and 400m in 13.97 secs.

I would use the stopwatch in the trip computer and just test how long it takes you to get to 100kmh. Or, using the odometer, mark out 400m on a deserted road, and time yourself doing the 1/4 mile.

Just remember that those quoted times are usually optimistic.

Anyway, just a thought - I think I might try that myself!! :yeah:

I've read claims ranging from a 5.8 to 6.5 for the VYSS 0-100, dunno whether to blame over zealous marketing reps, or soft footed reviewers. Of course 0-100 times are going to be hugely based on time of day, car load and driver.

yeh no real point to that, i'm at work and bored and needing to rant.

LOL, yeah I think it's probably a bit of both...

...I'd like to think it's closer to a 5.8 though

I was talking to a mate with a mean VY yesterday and he said after he did the exhaust and got it edited his car was completely different he couldnt believe the power and response difference..

In regard to performance figures, Motor have 2 people in the car and half a tank of fuel. Their times are run on a racetrack rather than a dragstrip where traction is much better. That means their times are "real world" and should be repeatable by owners. Manufacturer's figures aren't necessarily based on anything in particular, and could easily be influenced by "marketing requirements."

I have recently bought Efilive & have upgraded the PCM to a modified GTS tune & it has really awakened the engine under 3500rpm. This is with no other mods apart from the two hole mod. I am still to fine tune the spark & fuel tables & set it up for maffless. I decided to go this way as I wanted to really understand the system before adding exhaust ,cam etc.
