Sometimes the clutch sticks. Usually once it's been engaged it works for the next drive. Works fine otherwise. Getting worse over time though I think.

Noticed some metal flecks on the compressor head when I changed the oil later in the day. Wonder what they're from...

I guess I should get a new compressor, or should I get the clutch replaced?

If the comp is original then probably pay to replace the whole unit

Where did you find metal filings, engine oil or diff? Either or is a concern but less so if its the diff.

Metal filings were on the compressor head if you look closely between it and the pulley. I guess the head is magnetised so it will retain them, but I wonder where they came from. Perhaps the bearing on the compressor is slowly disintegrating. Still sounds normal but it's been there for 505,000km.
