Hi I need help with my 2002 VY s pac manual Ute, I start the car and it revs it about 1000rpm then just keep increasing and sometimes sits around 3000 RPM and when revved (not in gear) it gets stuck around 2500 to 3000 rpm it’s chewing through fuel also. I’m all out of ideas and this is my only car to get to work.

- The cable has small amount of slack
- The TPS and IAC sensors have been replaced

Did you replace the TPS and IAC before or after this problem occurred?

Sounds like a vac leak around the throttlebody.

As Immortality asked, did you have the issue before you replaced the 2 sensors or after.

have you changed or adjusted the throttle body at all?

Any other modifications?

I had a high idle on my VY series 2 at 2500 - 3000 rpm in neutral and I had the replaces the IAC twice as the first replacement was a dodgy one, so i would recommend trying to replace the IAC a second time and as others said check for vacuum leaks.

The accelerator cable needs to have 10-15mm of play. Too tight and you will get the symptoms you are experiencing.
