I was wondering what gearboxes are fitted to the sv6 and what oil is best to use in them?

GM 5L40-E 5 speed transmission. A rather fragile gearbox (don't know a sv6 without a reco one). It is sealed/ no dipstick. Therefore I would suggest getting a mechanic to do a tranny service - should only cost a hundred and fifty bucks for new filter, gasket and oil. I wouldn't really bother changing the oil. I felt no difference when mine was serviced. And I think they're sealed for a reason...

Owners manual doesn't specify anything. Just sayd contact dealer and they don't know the answers either. I've tried.

VZ SV6 Manual box is a Aisin AY-6. It has a few different names but that name should give you plenty of info through google.
It takes SAE 75W-90 Gl5 oil
It takes 1.8L of it
It's part-synthetic and not cheap.
Castrol make the stuff and sell it at auto barn.
