Hi all, It's come time for me to trade in the old trusty VR V6 and get a V8.

I really want a VZ SS but here in NZ they are still quite expensive. I had a look at a 2004 VY S2 SV8 with a VZ SS bodykit on it today for NZ$33,000 and a 2004 (November) VZ SS for NZ$46,000 Apart from the obvious, what is the difference between the two and is it really worth paying the $13,000 difference??
Any advice would be greatly recieved.

Why not get a VX? much cheaper and the same car. Around here the VX seems to be the gen III weapon of choice, several of them are running mid/low 12 second 1/4 miles

I wouldnt think a vz ss bodykit would fit on a vy unless they also changed the headlights...

Thanks for the replys guys,
I'm still a couple weeks away from making the decision, really got to see what the bank manager has to say :-(

I'm not sure if a VZ front kit would fit on a VY either but they had both side by side and was the same kit, maybe they modified the top of the kit to fit???

$46,000 for a Nov '04 SS!?!? What was done to it to make it so expensive? You can haggle yourself into a new SS for not much more than that here. What's the RRP on an SS in NZ?

If you get a VZ SV8, the '04 still didn't have the bodykit but at least it'll fit.

Brand new in NZ the RRP is NZ$63,100 for a VZ SS and NZ$53,400 for the VZ SV8.
The best private sale price for a 2004 VZ SS I've found so far in NZ is NZ$44,600.
Even the Nov 04 one at $46,000 was stock standard apart from tints with 32,000 km's on the clock.
I don't see how there can be that much difference between the Aus price and the NZ, even if you adjust it for the currency difference and freight.

Wow with your tax cuts and better priced cars I might have to look at crossing the ditch. LOL
