6.3 lit / 100kms highway figures, and that's a wagon ? or around 850+ kms a tank NP.

7.4 lit / 100 km around town, no power mode no a/c

Nothing special, Redline filter, custom CAI, new fuel filter.

Before the fuel filter was replaced it drank a huge 24 lit / 100 kms, Ouch ! or lucky to get 250 outa a full tank.

Nope I did the maths three times, since then I have topped up again having wasted fuel deliberately to check the figures, same fuel, same amount, same kms, same town, same figures, but as stated I got a dirty batch of fuel and it quickly started to drink fuel big time, once changed it was like another car.

When it was bought they filled up at surfers paradise and it still had fuel in it a month later when I bought it, the same fuel, that was well over 700 kms but driven with a load and another driver.

I dont try to be at the front of the queue or beat someone to the next set of lights, that crap is pure insanity.

With the a/c on it adds another litre or so, even so I never run it at full cold unless the car has been parked in the sun, I never use power mode unless I have to overtake some nutter.

The figures are correct, topped up last wednesday and at 46 kms around town the needle has not moved one bit.

executive)

CAI (Cold Air Intake) = No
Whether you have a K&N filter = No
Whether you have an upgraded exhaust = Just a 2.6 Catback, no rear resonator
PSI ~36
205 / 65 / 15
Start stop = Occasionally
Idles... about 1min total
hmmm tire, and "loose crap" about 30-50kg max
Myself, occasionally one passenger
Normally caltex or BP, Regular
Average speed you think you do on a normal tank = ~60 - 100km/h
Number of kilometres your car has travelled = 240,000
How hard do you normally go on a take off (when starting from lights etc) = "Briskly without flooring it"
How big your fuel tank is = 59L
What percentage of time is the air conditioning on = 0%

I get ~100km a 1/4.
will start measuring it next time i stop into a servo ( i.e. Fill eather than just maxing my input at $50 )
I normally run my car around 1/2 - 1/4 tank.

-edit-
Just i point i want to make
As i've posted in my "weird quirks" thread my car goes like a dream on freash fuel but could it be possible that after say 5days the fuel goes a little "Stale" and isnt as good? its one thing i havent stopped to check..

4th gear too big

Hi its me Graham the idiot who thought that driving in a gear which is too high would cause you to use more fuel. Granted I did not know how the auto worked in power and ecc, but now I do. Still 4th gear is too tall at lower speeds and I found (without anyones help) that if I drive in 3 instead of D when traveling at about 85 ks ph or less I have about a 13% better ecconomy. Most of the ks we travel are at 80ks ph, I would imagine that those who travel at a steady 60-70 ks ph without so much stop start, may find they will save even more. Dont beleive me do it yourself, so far it seems to work but as I said it will help to test this on a broader scale and with a trip computer.

Graham.

I never use 4th unless on the highway, 4th is just an overdrive, 3rd gear is 1:1 ratio which is top gear anyway, it gives better throttle response and your not overworking the engine.

so i should ignore 4th eh?

i always thought the higher revs, regardless of the lower strain was worse for economy.
