G'day car clean nazis,
I'm going to do a paint correction on the SuperWagon.
Sizzle red (soft paint? Intel on this would be awesome...)
It has some water etchings in the paint on the bonnet &roof. A few scratches/marks that I want to remove. And just get it as perfect as I can before sealing it up and keeping it waxed, biatch.
I've just picked up a Swarts Tools da machine. Still in the delivery box.
Going to try the Menzerna four step sampler pack.
Some Lake Country pads.
Just found out about a thing called Opti Seal. Drops of this seal your paint up like your first girlfriend.
I've had a little hand polishing experience and worked as a mobile washer guy years ago.
But a paint correction is a big step.
Let's see if I can do a decent job for around $400.
I need virtually everything from scratch.
And some advice&luck(or good timing)...

When I've called it, the paint of the roof felt "thin"...
So I'm a bit concerned about cutting too deep...

The Swarts DA machine feels legit. Quite heavy, a little less than a 9" grinder body.
Electric motor noisy but feels strong.
Impressed.

The Menzerna sampler pack, and Lake Country pads work well, especially with a DA machine.
Time to experiment!
Wash, and decontaminate the paint to start with.
Find the worst area of paint and start with the finest polish on that area.
If it doesn't remove the marks, try the second finest polish.
Etc, etc...
Then do the rest of the paint.
I've done a few cars now, so have a slight amount of experience.
I do know that you'll have to work really hard to cut through the paint with this set up, its especially good for beginners.
I wouldn't worry about Sizzle, it'll be normal Holden thickness, with a clear coat.
I use a large and a small buff, with 4 different pads for each machine.

Will a 3" backing plate/pad combo work ok on my full size machine?
It came with a 180mm plate (7"?)

If the screw threads are the same, it should be fine.
What's the 'throw' on the Swarts machine?(Haven't come across that brand)
