Why did you post two topics? You can just get a moderator to fix the title.

I would say it could be anywhere from 2 week to 1 year, depends what the topic is on, like if it's "what car do you have" i would say over a year or so would be about it.

But a "how do i fix this" thread which hasn't been posted in 2 weeks would be a stupid bump.

what's the problem with bringing up old topics?

it's what is going to happen when someone asks a question only to be told "FFS use the search function"

so they go searching and find and post in a topic only to be abused for thread digging

I don't see the problem with it if it is a relevant topic to what they are posting.

Yes if it's relevant to the topic but 99% (or more) are people saying (for example) "Yeah I reckon you should get the 5 spoke rims over the other ones", to a question that was asked 4 years ago.

and then someone comes up with the obvious answer " this thread is 4 years old" instead of just letting it slip quietly back into oblivion
