Hi,
I’m looking at getting a Series 2 VE SV6, do they have the same timing chain issues the earlier models had?
Thanks

Yes,its still there but nothing like the earlier models.
Well serviced VE11's are getting well into the 200,000K's on original chains.
Change oil/filter every 5000K's and at least once a year.

Hi can I have recommendations on mechanic for chain replacement and how much it would cost. Thanks
No idea in Canberra mate.

But expect to pay $2500-3500 for someone to do it for you.

$2500 seems to be about the minimum these days.

Thanks for replying Bro. Moved to Syd recently so can see mechanic there if you have any recommendation.. looking to avoid buying new car at the moment.

My son's S11 VE (LLT engine) got to 250,000 km and started to throw a timing chain code every now and then. Use the genuine AC Delco kit. It's worth the extra money for kit quality and peace of mind.
