i got a 2001 VT commodore and i just checked the tranny fluid cold while i was checking my oil and water and all that fun stuff.
i have a feeling there is way to much tranny fluid in it cause its right up to where the writting starts on a VT's dip stick .
what are the running symptoms of to much tranny fluid.
my revs are sitting at about 600 RPM and now and then the car will give a jerk and it will feel like the whole rear end of the car is lifting and the power train light comes on....is this connected ?

Was the engine running when you checked the trans fluid level? It needs to be running to do a level check just in case you don't already know. Up to 1cm over the hot fill level at cold check won't do any harm.

revs are fine mate, trans fluid must be checked in 'P' to be accurate

ok sweet thanks ....so what would be causing the other stuff? its like its surging when i have the brakes on u can actually feel the rear end lift up and the revs drop right down ..once the power train light came on and it wasn't till i kicked her into neutral and gave her a rev..

If you have the aircon/ climate on, in somecars if the battery isn't the best the automatic switching on and off of the air con can cause a voltage drop which will in turn cause a momentary drop in revs or a fluctuation. My calais does this as the battery is on it's last legs

take it to a mechanics and get a scanner onto it and they'll be able to tell you why your powertrain light came on
