Transmission Failure

Yeah mine started to make some noises when stopped at a light etc and in drive/reverse. Took it to get checked out and was told the transmission needs to be redone and the reaction casing is cracked, total to be fixed $3000 but with a 1 year warrenty and should last me more then 200,000 km's. Any one know of a better deal in canberra??

With the transmission how long did it last once you noticed the problem and will it just stop working or start to get worse?
