In my 2001 VX Acclaim Series II:
I notice the turn indicators are hard to see especially when I wear sunglasses on a hot sunny SE Qld day.
Probably due to my age & slight hearing loss, I also frequently do not hear the audible ticking signal that accompanies the flashing light signal.
Then there is the problem that you have to look through the steering wheel anyway, hardly a good design!

So my question is; can this situation be improved easily.
Are high brightness LEDs or globes available?
What component generates the ticking signal noise, can this be used to drive a piezo buzzer maybe?
Surely I can't be the only driver who would like an improvement here?
Thanks

It's a relay, so doesn't have a volume control

Could possibly rig it up to the horn so when you use the indicators, the horn sounds in sync with the blinking

Kidding

As for blinking lights, I haven't had any issues with mine
Sunglasses do play a part, are they cheap?

Polarized glasses I find best, is only my.really dark glasses that make it hard to see.
Dark glasses on sunny day will make the cluster seem washed out

I even have car driving glasses, for those days which are glarey yet overcast.

As for LED, can change them to superbright, shouldn't be a problem either.

Check out the below link.
Ask the seller if he can send you indicator flasher LEDs
Just an idea

The only problem I can see with changing the dash globes to LED,
is that they HAVE to be coloured green.
Otherwise, believe it or not, your car will be un roadworthy.

My daughter's old VX had blue turn signal dash leds and according to the Mechanic
at the local Holden Dealership, was deemed un roadworthy.

maybe a small piezo speaker wired up to the flasher can , wont matter if it is left or right as the can powers either and the noise will be what you are after

(hmm wonder if the cheap head light reminder buzzer will do , they usually work by comparing 2 power sources headlight fuse and ignition, if headlight is on but not ignition it will buzz , so connecting the headlight to the flasher unit and the other to earth or leave taped up open will make the unit think that the headlight is on when the blinkers work ie only 1 power source )

they used to make a base part that was fitted under the flasher can for using with electronic flasher cans
that had a much louder clicking noise
haven't seen one for about 20 years but they may still exist
