Undercover VR Maloo un-optioned

I have been decoding my December 1994 Holden VR XY5 Maloo and are finding very odd options and it seems to be unrecognized by HSV as ever being built.

Options

B81 Maloo stickers and most of the body kit deleted

PH9 15x6 alloy wheels

ZZ1 Portuguese Language owners manual

and there is no HSV build plate.

if you run the REV's check on the vin its HSV Maloo but it does not come up in identify my HSV


Can someone please assist.

You sure it's not a typo or mistake?

Portugese language owners manual? 15x6 alloy wheels?

Sounds weird especially if HSV never heard of car yet should have hsv enhanced cars on record.

Put up bunch of pics you think should identify it as HSV like engine bay & interior.

As gtrboyy said seems very strange.
Needs photos to try and help.
Does it have a maloo interior ? What HSV features that you know of does it have?
It is yours or are you looking at buying?

You could ring HSV to try and get better clarification .
Early models don't have much info on them on their site.
If there's no HSV or HSV enhanced tags = even more suss.

Yeah I have recently got the vehicle from a guy who saved it from a paddock. the car was sold from shacks HSV in Fremantle in Feb 1995 and went to a wheatbelt town of Narembeen WA original rego NB308 (shire plates and i am still trying to track down the owner of the plates). the car has red dirt staining underneath and red dust inside from the wheatbelt location where it has spent most of its life by the look of it.

I have contacted Clayton HSV but being over the Christmas period I haven't heard back

the interior is not HSV but has the correct AQ9 front bucket Luxury option that is on the build sheet.

I have the original build sheet for the vehicle from under the carpet too and its all matching XY5 maloo

It is almost like its HSV Unhanced haha

Dealer optioned instead of HSV?

No HSV plate is a worry. Even HBD cars got plates IIRC.

I believe there was 156 VR HSV Maloo's built. This may potentially be one destine for the factory that had never made it #157

Being 13/12/94 build and normally about a 30-40 day turn around in the Holden build date and the HSV stamped delivery date and take Christmas and
new years into account.

I have also heard that at the end of the calendar year in 1994 HSV moved within the warehouse to a larger location area that
may of disrupted production around this time. (can anyone confirm this fact)

The VR Maloo ran until Feb 1995 from what I can see

Yeah , I found a PITA to contact , let alone at this time of the year.
Back when I got mine had to ring to confirm as they hadn't added vin confirmation for ealy HSVs then.
That's a VS maloo grill, pretty sure VRs were all letterbox , single slot grill.
Something that's possibly not going to help you is HSV moved from Notting Hill to Clayton in December 94 so whether they kept all or lost records build info!

Yeah google search say 156 built. I thought it was 153 but I could be confusing that with mine which is VS 153.
I can check what the books I have about HSV say but have to wait = I won't be home until tomorrow arvo.
VS Maloo was released in April 95

Yeah I am aware of the grill being incorrect. I am also still trying to get some more information on the option code B81 that this car had on its build sheet ?
B81 ORNAMENTATION, EXTERIOR, BODY SIDE MOULDING (DELETE)
Ornamentation: is all badging and Decals from what I can gather as it doesn't even have the tailgate insert
Exterior: does this mean parts of the body kit
Side mouldings: no side skirts

Again for the record I am not trying to clam this as a HSV Maloo
It is a HOLDEN Maloo

That body side moulding delete could possibly be the s pack red moulding half way down the body
Hard to tell from your photo whether this is moulding there or not.
It will be really nice all cleaned up. Hopefully save seats and not get recovered.
