Unknow fault. 10 flashes followed by 10 more then code 12 ?????

Hi guys
My buddys VT V6 auto 2000 wont run & gives a weird fault code.
It flashes 10 times then a short pause then 10 more then a longer pause then 1 flash a short pause then 2 flashes.
Can anyone help with what this means ?
It recently dropped a fuel pump so thats fresh & I can hear it priming.
Its has spark at all 6 plugs.
Its has compression in all 6 cyclinders.
It cranks over but wont start.
Im think crank angle sensor.
Anyone got any ideas guys ???

vx onwards uses a four digit fault code
must have a later model ecu
ten flashes equals a zero
so code would be 0012
fault code 12 engine not running usually means all good

Was the engine running before with the current ECU and the old fuel pump (before it "dropped")? Just trying to establish a baseline.

The engine was running then it stopped due to dead fuel pump.
Replaced fuel pump car ran fine for 2 days then died again.
It cranks over but wont fire.
It has got hot a few times so I was thinking crank angle sensor
