Anyone got any ideas on upgrades under 1k? Even just small quality of life improvements to the car? Excluding engine work.

K&N air filter, replace the cabin filter, usual standard service, new spark plugs, you can pick up some HSV headers for under $500 which will give you a bit more power and better fuel economy over the OEM ones

Maybe some upgraded speakers if you aren’t looking to do engine work

Buy some quality car detailing products and a ceramic paint kit. Then do the paint prep before applying ceramic paint coating.

It will make it so much easier to wash and the car will slip through the air improving performance, especially if it’s red :p

Some internal cabin TLC never goes astray

Drill a big hole in each of your mufflers. Gives much better sounds and improves skidability. Also it's free so it's awesome mod

Thanks all for the suggestions! Needed a small job to do on the car while in isolation... big boy stuff can come later.

This is much funnier considering Holden actually did that (from factory) on the VF2s.
