i travelled 300km to pick up an LX8 adventra and everything was fine but the a/c didn't work and the vent was stuck on demist
i could change the climate control panel to 17deg and face but it still blew hot air to the screen.
checked the a/c compressor and it was spinning and the engine fans came on when selected but the a/c hoses didn't get cold.
I would have thought if an actuator went bad the a/c would still get cold??

anyway i didn't buy it and travelled 300km home and wasted my whole day.

i really want this car though and i am prepared to fix mself but just unsure of why its not working.

if any one can point me to a thread or give me advise please let me know
thanks

Try getting an auto electrician to have a look at it in the area, or borrow some AC gauges and go have another look. It could just be the AC clutch gone and the system might still have gas.

fair chance the HVAC vac manifold is leaking. As for cold air - a/c compressor could be stuffed. They are around $400 for a new one/ $150 used + gas - about 2.5 hours to replace (pita on Adventra - had to do my one last year).

When on demister with ac on cold will the air still come out warm to the screen? I'll check my VX and BA tomorrow.
I have read that the default vent position when no vacuum is demist.
So just need to work out why no vacuum.
Already got the guy down $3k and he said he won't go lower if only I could get it a little cheaper to cover the cost of fixing it.
He is getting an auto elec to look monday so hopefully they find the issue and I go 300 km down the again next weekend.

No vac could be anywhere - even as simple as a hose off however the manifolds are known to crack.
