I've had this kit for about 8 years with no problems, bluetooth, phone automatically connects when I turn the ignition on, press one button to answer. I suppose it is legal, don't see why not.

My VX has all the connections for a motorola phone still intact but now hidden in the glove box ,my question does anyone think it would be possible to rewire or convert it to use my Android phone, and if the rewire is possible does the audio signal as in listening to the other caller come thru the head unit, was it a hands free unit where one would be able to press answer and the have a conversation listening through the speakers, I have located microphones in the car near the windscreen but am not sure,,I understand one of the wires would lead to the aireal but with modern phones it wouldnt be needed. just the answer and talkback side.?? Any thoughts.

Remove all that old crap, you wouldn't be able to use it directly. The car kit stuff was all 12volt (USB is 5volt) and the mute feature is just there to mute the speakers in the car so you can hear the car kit speaker (which was always a separate speaker mounted under the dash near your feet.)

A modern Android car audio system will provide better functionality through bluetooth pairing.
