i think it has more to do with the length and quality of the chain

Hmmm. Interesting.
PCV air enters passenger side rocker cover, and is drawn through the engine and out driver side rocket cover. Just like every V engine.
The small exit orifice was fixed on later engines (VF LFX)
This would seemingly be more an issue on engines with the small exit orifice which was prone to blocking up over time and had less PCV flow.

Definately agree with the remarks on oil change interval and oil quality. 7500km-10000km is more sensible.
An oil catch can is mandatory too on any gasoline direct injection engine if one plans to keep their car past 100000-120000km.

A few pics from my old thread if anyone is interested. I plan on doing this mod with a duel catch can setup some time down the track. These pics were from a bloke doing this mod from the states posted in a corvette forum. Engine was from a Cadillac CTS, identical to the alloytec.

Interesting video.....Thanks.
So the trick is to unscrew it and drill the hole a little larger?
Or could you purchase a VF one and simply screw it in?

From what read the pcv valve on the alloytec is fixed from factory and cannot be removed, my guess is because it’s not a spring loaded valve and regulated through the 2 small holes base of pcv, cleaning should be the only maintenance required says gm’s engineering dept. not sure wether you could buy a later model rocker cover with the larger pcv as a exact bolt on replacement but certainly more research into this is needed from my end.

I’ve read somewhere that the pcv valve can be removed using a firm grip on pliers but I’m not 100% sure on that particular source of information or willing to suggest anyone trying.

Just took off side vanity cover off my VE.........Mmmmmm, think I'll just keep changing the oil twice a year.

I’ve had a clean reliable alloytec doing 5-7k oil changes using quality full syn oil. after a rocker gasket change I was impressed how clean it was with 0 gunk build up, I did however notice (as the video describes) some old burnt oil on the driver side bank, mainly on the rocker arms, so my interest with this matter still continues...
