V8 to V6 steering racks

Hi all, I have searched the forums but I just cant get a definitive answer, basically I just want to know if a steering rack out of a VQ V8 series 2 Statesman will go straight into a VP V6 Calais?
Some people say it will, some say it wont, I just need a definite answer.

The vq may have variable speed power steering. If it does, it will still fit but you wont be able to run extractors without bashing a dent in one of them for clearance.

Variable speed steering wont work if you dont have the the wiring for it, but should still operate as normal power steering without it.

aside from that, yeah it should work.

Thanks Andrew, I heard that there may be a difference between the V8 & V6 racks.....anyone know if this is true?
Also, both the VQ and the VP im talking about have variable pwr steering.

hey man i posted a thread asking the exact same thing..
people commented saying it would fit, people are work & stuff said it should also.

to my understanding, as long as both are variable steering, it will work. (i really hope so, ill be attempting it this sat) lol
