I totally appreciate the replies from all.
Are there any trans specialists that can shed any light… could this be from over filling or a pressure regulator that is faulty..
looking for some sort of guidance..
Cheers
Reading through the thread, my money is on the dipstick.
You said it was replaced. Why? Do you still have the old one? Just so you can compare the two.
If not, maybe beg/borrow/buy a standard one? Even just for a check. Wreckers maybe?
Have you driven on any long trips so that the fluid can find it's own level? (risky I know - and not very enviromentally responsible)

Thanks for the response, I changed the dipstick because it was previously bent where the o ring is and couldn’t get it to seal. The new flexible dipstick is definitely sealed and not leaking.
I put a clear tube above 250mm long over the Breather vent to isolate the areas it may leak and it had definitely leaked and sprayed fluid from the tube.
I’m starting to think that hopefully it may be over filled and that nothing else sinister is happening.

OK, I meant if you could compare the old and new dipsticks, from where they seal/mount into the gearbox, to the level markings - to make sure they are the same length.

Yes I did check their length and they were both the same from the point of where they seal

Thanks - I should have known.
Is the new stick flexible? Could it be hitting something inside and deflecting?
Is there enough of the old stick to check with that instead of the new one?
Do you know (or are there) any "old style" trans shops or mechanics near you? Traumatics were pretty popular in the day, (V8 to Gemini's), maybe someone might remember something like the issue you have, happening?

Yes the dipstick is flexible, doesn’t seem to hit anything inside either.
That may be the next step I reckon, might have to take it to a trans specialist next week after I put my axles back in ( stuffed bearing ) as well.

So it got to me..., So I googled the problem.
( "holden trimatic transmission fluid coming out of breather" )
Heaps of solutions - even on this forum.
Some suggestions:
If the filter is installed incorrectly it can cause the fluid to spill out of the breather.
Ditto water in the transmission (not a lot) depending on the size of (maybe) a crack in the cooler inside the radiator.
If there is some water in the fluid, and the trans temp gets to 100 degrees, the water will boil and the expansion can force fluid out of the breather.
Similarly a blocked line to the radiator (maybe kinked etc?).
Any other internal blockage can force fluid out depending on where its blocked (before or after the pump).
and so on..
