Ve 2 hole airbox mod?

Howdy, all. Has anybody done a two-hole airbox mod to a VE (http://swingtan.customer.netspace.net.au/2hole.html)? Is it worth molesting a perfectly good airbox? I was looking on the forums a lot of people with Vz's and Vt's were cutting holes and chopping up their airboxes for extra airflow and ever-so-glorious induction noise, but nobody has mentioned them on the forums since 2008 lol. I understand performance gains would be minimal to none; is airflow restriction even that bad on a VE? Would it be worth getting a pod filter or OTR even on a stock SV6 (or any intake mod in general)?

P.s I was thinking about upgrading my Air filter to a reusable K&N
