VE Air Con Ticking

[VFSS]

VE Series II SS Ute air conditioner has just started making a very annoying ticking noise.
Almost sounds like there maybe something stuck in the fan, however I am not too sure that this is the problem. No matter what fan number the air con is on, the noise is there.
Not there when air con is turned off, hot or cold doesn't change anything.
Had gone away for a day, however it is back, and extremely annoying..

Anyone know what it could be?
Is this a common drama in the VE's?
Should I be getting it looked at by a car air con technician?

could be an actuator, does it do it on start up etc, google on here as there is lots of info and how to replace, part is $20 and there are 4 of them, usually just one has broken teeth on the cog

Clicking starts as soon as the car starts, and continues to make the ticking noise until air is turned off..Is not there when you turn the air con off..
Seems to be coming from up top.
What are the signs of actuator needing to be replaced?
