To get a key for the vehicle, the only realistic way to do it is to go to Holden with proof of ownership and they can provide the various security info. Then you need to engage the services of a locksmith who has experience with VE keys and the scan tool to program it in.

No. Because the list of VIN matched modules in the vehicle continues on and on and on.

Everything has to be able to talk to each other across the computer network. You’ve grabbed a working and matched network and messed it right up.

You need to go to Holden with proof of ownership and get the right info to have a new key cut to the old door and barrel. Then get a locksmith who has experience with VE’s to reflash a new keyhead to the vehicle.

Having unnecessarily replaced the column, you will also now need to use a high end scan tool to recalibrate the steering position sensor as well.

It won’t be cheap. The keyhead will need to be bought. Having the blade cut is cheap, having the keyhead bought and programmed is not.


what will make things even harder for you is not knowing the VIN for the donor modules. You’ve got like a few modules in a network of a lot of modules.

One mismatched module in the cars network will result in a no start condition.

And matching key, what else will I have to do? As was quoted $600 for two keys from mister minute which was the cheapest I could find.
I got all the other bits for $300
What else would I have to do please mate
$600 is a good price. Nothing on a car made in the last 15 years is going to be cheap to fix, nor simple.

I just remembered,
As @Fu Manchu mentioned, they are NOT like VR's, VS's, VT's, VY's, VZ's

Just to get the one Key you have operational,
You will need a Second Key to complete the programming Process,
This will be required to be Programmed into BCM.
As all VE's require a minimum of 2 Keys.

Yes, you will need 2 Keys,
First will be the Master,
Second will be the Slave.

I would strongly suggest putting everything as it was. Then get the required info from Holden / GM and proceed from there. Once the car starts, you will need to do a steering angle sensor recalibration.
