Ve ss diff question

Hi Guys & Gals, Question i have to replace my VE SS 2.92 LSD diff, The Non LSD are way cheaper.. Will it run ok?

I wouldn't use a non LSD in a v8.
Use the manual 3.45 LSD. I have one sitting at home if needed.

Why does it matter if it's a LSD or not? The LSD centre will ware out eventually and it will single peg. They should be exactly the same otherwise (AFAIK).

OP, what's wrong with your diff?

That's exactly what I was thinking. I thought the stock diff had a bit of a reputation for it. I'm certainly no diff expert at all though.

The 3.45 will help it accelerate off the line much better but the cruising revs will be slighly higher. It will make the car a lot more lively.

Not so sure about the VE diffs, but the cup and cone centres that they used in the M78 diffs are known for it.

Mike, how many kms on it and is working good? Also will I need a retune with he 3.45 diff?

Won't need a tune, but there's a possibility you'll need to get somebody with a Tech 2 to recalibrate the speedo. Some VEs need it, some adjust automatically.
