It's never going to be cheap because either HPtuners of EFIlive software is going to require the purchase of a license before any modification can be made.

Interesting read. I was under the impression that the ve got its road speed by the abs sensors too. I want to buy a new diff for my car soon so keep us posted so I know if I have to keep some money aside to calibrate it

A cheaper alternative to a re-cal might be to buy a cheap GPS that displays speed then mount it somewhere easy to see.

I changed the same ratios on my 2008 VE. Speedo didn't change. But with my VF tuner had to re program it.

Must vary series to series... Depending what parts where left in the parts bin

So does anyone know what determine if it will need a recal? Maybe look for a speed sensor on the transmission?

I would like to thank everyone involved in this forum. Speedo re-cal VE series 2 SSV. Diff change from 2.92 to 3.45. Those who said take it to a tuner shop were spot on. Lk Motors fixed it using Hptuner just Access ECU choose diff ratio 3.45 fixed for $250. Speed sensors are on both rear wheels
