hi all i am a frequent visitor to this site but dont often post i purchased my first commodore in 1985 which was a vh it was about 18 months old so i have come across a lot of different issues over the years ,my latest problem was my ve calais ,was what seemed like it was missing under load so i done the normal things change coils and plugs still the problem was there, under acceleration it was OK or in sports mode it was less often checked wiring ecu connections etc i was reading comments where fuel injectors or ecu were to blame but car was running good up to 80ks or sitting in park and revving it .After a lot of reading from here and other sites i came across the mention of the dreaded 5 speed auto i then called a couple of transmission specialist and they sort of confirmed it was the start of the tranny failing so i had a second hand one put in but the problem was still there the car was then put on a dyno and it confirmed it was the transmision both boxes had the same problem ,in the end a reconditioned the torque converter and gave the box a bit of a work over and the car is now like new it was a 2.5k spend 6 month unlimited km warranty which is not to bad after being quoted 5k for a reco box the problem was more the torque converter then the box which is a lot cheaper to be overhauled then the transmission
i hope this helps somebody it took me about 4 months to find the fix
thanks

yes it is a 5 speed auto and after replacing the box and torque converter with a second had set it also had the same problem, which was feeling like it was missing after the torque converter had locked up at about 80km/h the solution was a recondition torque converter and the original box had a service and couple of bits replaced it was more the torque converter then the box.
