Very rough Idle, check engine light, random loud clunking sound......

Hi all, having some issues with my 2010 VE Sports Wagon.

She's been running rough for while, changed the spark plugs, coils and leads awhile ago. She shakes a lot when idling, as if to almost conk out but doesn't. (Has conked out once or twice) The engine constantly feels hot after a short drive. I can smell it also. The engine light stays on, but then randomly starts blinking when I'm driving and stops after about a minute. The engine smells like it's burning sometimes, using more coolant/water than usual. Have noticed a slight rotten egg smell after driving, rarely but enough for me to notice. And over the past week or two I've noticed after I turn the car on a loud clunking/rattle sound comes and then goes. Has happened when driving also. Not like a knock, more like a clunk. If that makes sense. She's definitely misfiring. Also, the tensioner pulley wobbles.


Any suggestions???

have you a code reader see if there a code for the problem my did if a couple time it read bank 3 misfit clean the plug and new coil ok now

I am assuming you meant its Cyl 3 miss-fire,

As for the Clunk, could very well be the Engine Mount [Passengers Side]

The worn pulley could have damaged another device,
so best to get that replaced, and then check to see what else needs replacing,

Yes sorry, that's correct.

I'll sus out the engine mounts also today while I'm at it.

Replacing pulleys ASAP!

I also thought I had a collapsed converter on my LY7 last year,
But worked it was a faulty O2 sensor, and cheap shite eBay chains,
Replace both items,
The rest is history.

I would be checking what your 02 sensors are reading, you could have a collapsed cat converter
Rattles and a rotten egg smell would tend to support your diagnosis.

Changed the Tensioner Pulley today.. Car still runs rough.

Will pick up an 02 sensor in the morning. Should I be replacing both sensors (as in front and back). Could only get the front in-store so I'll change that tomorrow. Hoping that makes a difference. I have all the symptoms of a failing 02 sensor, apart from blowing black smoke. Car hasn't done that, yet.
