Great and with the bleeder extension it should be much better again.

I wish I had a hoist at home ;)

I did it on a QuickJack which is effectively the height of jack stands. Would be much less awkward on a hoist.

I was thinking about one of those. Are you happy with it? Did you get the 5000?
Im not really comfortable getting the car onto 4 jack stands.
I like the idea of a hoist but feel it would reduce the usability of my shed.

Yeah, if you go under a car often enough and can afford it then they are handy to have. I don't think it saves time jacking a car (I usually double/triple check that the jacking pads will hit the correct spots) but both sides going up at once feels safer than putting the car on jack stands one side at a time.

Or sit and wait to see if it goes on sale boxing day.

You don't need an Hoist. If you run the front up on car ramps it gives you enough room to do everything required.
