Last weekend I changed the Plugs & leads in my vf2 ls3 SS. It had done 75000kms. I upgraded the leads to a 8mm aftermarket set and put some 1800degree woven heat shields over the leads and plug boots. Do you think it made a noticeable difference in power??

Is this a hypothetical or do you have some befores & afters?

If I were to guess; I'd have said yes, because yours is tuned isn't it? Standard tune seems to be quite consevative, and I'd have guessed no difference there, but a better ignition system should allow yours to be tuned a tad more aggressively (or maybe cope a bit better in adverse conditions ... perform a bit more like winter in summer & the like).

so far no numbers but Wed night the quarter mile will be a good comparison vs 2 weeks ago with the old plugs and leads. It feels much stronger top end. If anything I suspect it allows the coils to perform a bit better at higher rpm but as i said as of yet no objective data hence my question

Ye'd be seein' greater firepower by reckonin' th' gap, or ditch yon 'ot guns t’ switch t' cooler sparrrkin’ canons. Wit' 450 'orses t' th' stern, NGK sayee canons ought be a range cooler, yarr... TR6.. arr!
Canon gap fer 'igh RPM ought be tied t’ grog (alcohol / fuel), an’ set by weather (wind temperature an’ pressure).
If say ye hoist th’ 98 flag, yer MAP shows 100 kPa full sail on mainbrace, an' shiver me timbers it be blowin’ o'er 20°, then stock 0.040” (1 mm) will see ye sailing Bristol Fashion.
Iridium be yer treasure.

I'd be surprised if it made a measurable difference.

yep the LS ignition system is pretty strong.

OP sparkplug gap is the only change I've made re Heads cam and running E85

Agree, no real noticeable difference. The OEM leads are reliable and great performers.

What if he said he'd replaced original leads with 75k km on them?
