As the title says, live in VIC and wondering how the W310 pack will go with the new EPA noise laws coming into effect in December.

Will the W310 pack pass or will all people that have this installed have to spend more coin to have it adjusted/removed?

The W310 doesn't pass current legislation so I wouldn't think it will pass any new (I assume heavily restricted) legislation.

So how on earth do dealers get away with installing a product that doesn't meet the new EPA laws? Doesn't make sense that these are offered as options from reputable companies like Walkinshaw or Installed by HP-F Factory but don't pass legislation. Or will these installs be banned as of next month?

Can someone explain how this will play out?
If you get an install done prior to the new laws, does this make your car exempt from such legislation?

I'm confused to say the least.

VF SSV Redline W310
I have the W310 kit on my redline, and while it is louder than my old SS with a walky cat back I actually think it is less obtrusive.

I don't foresee any problems with the police unless I drive in a manner that will attract them.

As for emissions I don't know. The intake pipe has been changed, it is now just a straight pipe between the airbox and throttle body. Once again, I don't plan on driving it in a manner that will bring enough attention to myself that the car will be gone over with a fine tooth comb. If it is ever tested I will deal with it then I guess.

If you want a 100% EPA compliant car, leave it standard, only way.

Wish it was that easy, already paid for the W310 back in august when I ordered my redline. Install is Friday, so I guess a request to keep the stock exhaust could come in handy.

Either this W310 will push me into trouble with the law and I'll have to fit the old exhaust or the new EPA legislation is more focused towards pushing the bikie clubs out of Vic with their crazy loud Harley's. Nothing like the sound of the W310, best sounding modern V8 I've heard, just hope I get to hang on to it for a while.

Just do it. Not like there isn't dozens of loud commodores around as is I doubt yours will stand out enough to warrant police attention unless you drive like a tool.

I wouldn't worry about noise, not like it will pass emissions any way so not EPA compliant.

So I've had the W310 pack installed and even though it's loud, it's not in your face or ears for that matter like the crazy loud Harley's or exhausts that drone and crack. It's a tough note on start, sounds amazing. Give it a rev and it's an angry v8 waiting for some action. On normal pace, it wouldn't be an issue and no way you would get pulled over for a check. On part acceleration, the excitement really begins and on Full acceleration, that right there would be an issue for the authorities, without a doubt.

Expensive yes but worth it for the growl alone, the extra 50kW is noticeable but the note of the VF with W310 is outstanding. Just hope I get to enjoy it for a while.

The moment you alter the ECU in any shape or form it fails EPA.
