Nothing stops you from putting them on as a protector (although some of us here differ in views regarding its purposes in engine cooling), just as I and some others have done... up to you though of course. :)

Thanks, if it came like that from factory, then is good enough for me. If it was supposed to be there and mine was missing, then that's different. I don't care for aesthetics from under the car and whilst it's only a few bolts, it still is more work when it comes to an oil change ;-)

I think the issue is that the D panel under the front fascia used to have a gap between it and the subframe on VE which allowed airflow through to the sump, the VF D panel closes up that gap so with the splash tray on there is zero airflow to the engine at the bottom.
