I am getting ready for roadworthy and spotted a big hole in my exhaust, whats the cheapest way to fix this?

Im not gonna spend on a propper exhaust setup until I build my new motor, so for now I just wanna pass a roady...

If i take it somewhere to repair will they just laugh lol

I chopped my muffler box out and welded straight pipe in its place. My car sounds heaps better and passed roadworthy! Easy quick fix and it's surprisingly not much louder than it was. I don't have any problems with police or anything. I swear my car runs better and goes harder since I did this too.

I'd just get a bit of flat steel 0.9mm or 1.6mm, cut to appropriate shape and weld all around it :p

When my father was getting his roadworthy on his Valiant Charger the mechanic called the police on him for doing this.

that's really far gone.
Mufflers are cheap, unless you have your own mig, but the time you stuff around getting someone else to do it, may as well just take it to an exhaust shop and get them to fit the cheapest muffler that they have.

I got a brand new muffler for my Courier ute supplied and fitted for $80

Make sure you get a muffler of the same cfm flow rate as per holden specification so your emissions stay within range and you don't get arrested. To be honest you might as well chop it and weld in straight pipe. Your motor will thank you.
