Hey all

In my ve omega i feel a vibration when i accelerate slowly when im sitting on 70km/h - 80km/h and its getting real annoying as i can feel it through the car. Its worse when i have a full car load. It sounds like it misfiring but its not.

I was told its my centre bearing that needs to be replaced because its stretching when under load and thats what causing the vibration through the car.

What are other peoples thought about this as i want to fix it ASAP

I would pull out the tailshaft and inspect the rubber couplings at either end, the centre bearing, and the spline behind the centre bearing for any wear or damage. The centre bearing and rubber couplings are easy to replace

may need to be balanced after replacing the centre bearing

Shouldn't need to be balanced unless the uni joint is changed. Just put the two halves back together they way they were so the original balance weights are in the right spot and it should be fine.

I had an annoying vibration coming from my tailshaft once, turn out on of the bolts on the diff end rubber coupling had gone AWOL. Also if they are loose it will cause it.

So for a possible quick free fix, check they are all tight.

Thanks for all the help :) I will get my mechanic to look at everything and see what's going on

I've never had that problem.
But I have known of several instances where the front end of the tailshaft has "let go", pole vaulting the car - with fatal consequences.
If I thought that I had this problem then I would get it checked straight away.

My 10 year old VY was a little out of warranty :p so I just ducked down to a local bolt joint with one of the other bolts and said I need 3 new one in the strongest steel you got. Turn out the new ones are a really strong type, and expensive.

Won't happen on a VE.
