VL interior light bulb wattage?

I'm not too sure as i'm at work & won't be able to check my light for the wattage, did you check your old bulb? It should have said it on the old one, but Iwould have thought 5w would be fine. Maybe try the next wattage up, or get an LED based globe/light

U will find its probably the cover over it is dimming it quite significantly.
As stated buy a festoon led light to replace it. I got some from eBay cheap and r very bright.
