hey all my mates vl seems to miss at idle and on take off but heres a bit of an overveiw on whats happened. we washed the motor last week been careful not to directly spray water round the dizzy or and electrical components after that it wouldnt start. there was water in the cap which was the problem but another mate sprayed areo start in the air box before this which didnt help. once it was running we attempted to drive it home which was fine for a bout a km then it started to back fire and shoot flames out the exhaust then stopped so we left it on the side of the road n came bak in the morning and it started fine. the car still runs fine now but to me it sounds as if it has a missfire at idle and under accelration but not right through the rev range. any ideas on what could be causing this????? thanx heaps

Firstly, spraying aerostart or any other product into your airbox of a fuel injected car could cause some serious problems E.G. damaging your air flow meter, tps etc...
as for your miss, there could still be some moisture in your dizzy behind the silver plate, on your crank angle sensor. or in your cas plug on top of the dizzy. or on some other electrical connection.
another cause is that your throttle body needs a clean with carby/throttlebody cleaner and a toothbrush. you can clean it while it is on the car but for best results it should be removed and thoroughly scrubed.

second that. u can even go further and pull off your plenum and completely flush it out and degrease it as u get a fair bit of blow-by in here and gets gummy,(but need a plenum gasket to intake runners) and same with your AAC valve also located next to throttle body on plenum

As Jatsvl has stated, moisture could still b in dizzy. i have never seen an intact rubber seal for the dizzy cup always brittle and cracked.
