Check DFI plug. It may have been knocked as it is near the dipstick ?

Backfiring is normally caused by incorrect ignition timing, incorrect valve opening or lean mixture. You haven't done anything to the ignition or valves- maybe you've knocked a hose off somewhere causing lean mixture at idle?

How were the plugs dirty?

How much oil did you put in it?

Did you spill the oil on anything?

Try and find the air leak if it's visible like a hose. If it's a loose gasket spraying WD40 on the visible edges of the gasket faces will temporally seal them and the problem will stop.
On other cars I use a vacuum gauge to detect leaks - I have an old Triumph TR6 that won't idle unless it's inlet manifold can get down to 10 inches of mercury on a gauge measuring inlet vacuum on the brake booster cylinder connection.

If you replace the plugs I've found NGK are by far the best.

oil too thick? I use 5w/30 like the book says. Mine shut off when lost oil pressure due to NO rear main seal and the glue failed! Yep, the rear seal area had been glued, failed at 187.000km, bought it at 125.000km.

i used 20w/50 was the one recommended for v6 engines
5w/30 way too thin for v6 engine
usually is used for people who drive in cold conditions 2 stroke lawn mowers and outboard motors
thanks for your help though mate
