Trans pan Derale T700R4
Will be running derale an which uses cooling tubes going through pan to help cool ATF
The pan takes standard length 700R4 filter however has the added volume of ATF under and around the cooling tubes approx adding 2 quarts extra
Will weld into side of pan 1/8” NPT temp sensor as this pan was new old stock and newer pans come with temp sensor bung already installed
https://derale.com/product-footer/transmission-pans/cooling-pans/14204-detail

Opened up the trans pump
Looks good no heavy scratches in pump body
Has 10 vane pump will be upgraded to 13 cane in the build

Sorry, I know this is a bit old now but did you measure your ground clearance with this pan fitted? Or have you measured this against the standard pan depth?

I'm looking for a replacement sump for my Senator so I can add a trans fluid temp gauge (and a good excuse for a better trans sump) but ground clearance is a issue (for me). I'm running SL King springs on the fronts and SSL king springs on the rear so I'm quite low, right now my trans cross member is sitting at about 90mm off the ground with the rear tyres somewhat deflated so fully pumped up I'm at about 100mm and the trans pan sits about 25-30mm higher than the trans cross member. It scared me to have the trans pan been the lowest part under the car.

Excuse delay
Had to tidy yard up after blockwork done

Refer attached pic
The standard pan is 60mm height
Not including thickness of cork gasket just the pan
The derale pan I fitted takes standard height filter and cooling fins are under this
Total depth of derale pan is 90mm not incl gasket

2 extra quarts volume of ATF
Fitted the Autometer sensor into trans pan

Slow going as busy at work
A lot of travel at present.
Off to Vietnam in week for few days on way to Germany and Milan Italy for a 8 days

No worries, thanks for that. The Derale pan looks deeper in the pics than it actually is. I thought it would've been over 100mm.

I had considered a B&M deep alloy pan but it was well over a 100mm deep and way to low for my liking.

I'm trying to see if I can find one of those Derale pans locally for a decent price.

Various
I'm running the RTS cast alloy one, mainly because I wanted the drain plug as I service mine regularly due to the extra stress and heat of a big converter and I'll generally only do a filter change every 3-4 fluid changes so I don't want to drop the pan each time.

So far so good, I know the brand has a bit of a mixed reuptation but so far mines sealed up well and does it's job.

It's impressed me so much with it's overall quality, I'm going an RTS high capacity sump on the 355 as I can't justify the cost of an ASR one (it's over double the price).

I did look at the RTS alloy deep pan but hadn't found any local suppliers and VPW shipping prices are not exactly cheap to NZ either.

I managed to get my hand on a old NZV8 Holden engine sump, it needs a bit of work (got a dent) but it's got all the good bits.

Not much doing today,
  • The 3 gauges turned up, and managed to get the sensors in the pans for auto and oil pan
  • made up adapter to use the autometer oil pressure gauge and the GMH oil pressure light
  • 6 litres of Penrite break in engine oil (15W-40) in pan and didn't even wet the end of dip stick
  • 8.5 litres just under the max level mark
  • original oil filter back on engine to run, but not fill of oil yet.
  • Need to clean up the rocker covers (water or sand blast) and powder coat, not sure whether colour will be black or grey
