Hey i own a VN and my fan isn't working (when i put the AC on aswell).
The car gets hot when stationary at traffic lights. I've checked the fuses. Wasn"t sure on what else to check or to whether to take it to an auto electrician?
Any ideas would be great

check wiring and connection, but apart from that looks like the fans dead.

OKay, i will check the wiring furthermore tonight.

So i'd probly be best off buying a fan from the auto wreckers and putting that in? Any clue on how much it would be?

By the fan being "dead" do you mean the fan motor must have a problem.
Cheers

OKay, i will have a try tonight.

Yer the fan doesn't work when you have the aircon on.
(i get pretty much no air flow through my air vents even when its turned up to 4.)

Mostly the overheating im worried about but.

Do you just use a standard jumper cable from the batery to the fan?
Would a multimeter be any use? are there any other points to check in the wiring?

Perhaps you should clarify which fan you are talking about. It seems to me you guys are talking about 2 different fans. Thermo fan: the one on your radiator, Blower fan: the one under the dash that operates with your aircon.

VX Executive/VN Project
On a similar vein, I have a VX II Executive, and if I put the fan on level 4 (with the AC on) after about 5 minutes the fan shuts down. If I leave it it switches back on in a few minutes, and runs for another 5 minutes, then shuts down again, etc.
If I switch back to level 3, it starts almost immediately, and runs continiously.
It is very annoying as I only put it on 4 when it is very hot, and I need the AC on.
Any ideas?

hey vnracer, did you get any result on the engine fan? mine quit yesterday on the way back from margaret river. Wouldn't cut in at all, not even with the AC turned on so i opened the little black box in front of the washer bottle up, swapped the fan relay with the horn relay and she's all fixed! (had to use finger instead of horn the rest of the way home ;-)
