Actually talking about poisonous gas carbon monoxide, which is much reduced compared to old carby engines. People used to commit suicide by car exhaust fumes. But a VN would still spew out plenty of carbon dioxide.

We were quite late to the catalytic converter party and plenty of countries had them well before we did. I remember stripping down Japanese import Mazda 323s from the early 1980s and they had carburettors AND catalytic converters on them, a very rare breed as most catalytic converter cars are fuel injected.
