Don't forget the bash plate, 15x7 interceptors and cop chips under the seat.

buy "cop chips" he means the ones from mcdonalds that fell under the seat during a police chase...

Hi,

I am going to buy a VP BT1 V8.
Just a couple of questions.
I'm paying $2800 with 175,000 original km's is that ok?
Also i looked at VP Calais 304 and its engine vin number had UPL in it.
This BT1 has UNL?
Can anyone tell me what this means?

Thanks

UNL = V8 1992 model year.

Rather confusing: I have a UNL Exec, Sept '91 built, with IRS, uber speedo, 3.45 LSD.. but doesn't specify BT1 or FE2 on plates. Thing is tho, with vehicles this age, who knows what you're going to get. I'm happy with my thirsty little money-pit and at the end of the day that's all that matters

If it's a genuine 175,000 that sounds like a fair price, $2,800 is a cheap car whichever way you look at it. Though they had stock 304s as the other guys said, a few bolt-ons will transform it, and the FE2 suspension is part of the fun, Berlina interior... So no, i don't think they're just another VP executive.

I bought a VP BT-1 a few weeks ago. I paid $2050 for a car with 243,000. Was a bit concerned about the k's but the guy had replaced everything in the front and rear suspension so I figured it's only a toy and it's not much more than pocket money... Few little things to sort out but the engine and trans are solid. Came with genie headers and a redback exhaust, i think it's probly got an aftermarket chip too. No regrets, your 175,000 kms sounds very attractive.

i was surprised when I looked under it to find a live axle - no IRS. it's an LSD but no IRS. It's an October '91 build and maybe that's the reason, or i wondered if the live axle was a cop preference over the early IRS.

This BT1 has UNL?

So does mine.
It's an Exec though if that makes any difference.

Yours says GU4 axle same as mine but mine is 3.08 LSD not 3.45

GU4 certainly is 3.08.. which is what she had when she left the factory. When I bought her she had, and still has a 3.45 LSD.

I bought her in 2013... and know sweet bugger all about most of her history.
