Vp stalls when put into park

Hi all, We have a VP wagon the engine will stall at the lights on occasions and is now stopping when park is selected. any ideas please

do the rpm's hunt when your stationary at idol? when is the last time you cleaned out your throttle body and iac? ive had a vs that did this, gave the throttle body and iac a good clean, got in there with a toothbrush and some multi purpose thinners, problem solved... just a thought...

Thanks hi_rider, will look deeply into that thought, and am thinking I might have to change the Throttle position sensor as well; John

+ 1 = for hi_ryder, but if it is an auto it could well be the inhibitor switch causing this issue.

But wouldn't that cause a proper running car to stall when you put it into park or neutral? Or are they more complex than that?

I only say this as the inhibitor switch could be unstable, might even be the CAS beginning to break down, but as hi_ryder has stated it is most likely to be TB related, so disassemble & clean the lot in that area + check TPS MAP & all vacuum hoses
