Troy that accident sounds very very familiar to what happened recently with a mate of mine in his Gemini.
He was coming back from farnbarough beach, spelling.. and a ute came flying around the corner on the middle of the road, his girlfriend was driving and she isn't too experienced, swerved to the left, over corrected, lost it, went off the edge of a gully which im told was a good 3-4 meters high. Went through a heap of small trees and Finished up hitting a larger tree.
As for damage to the car, new door, some panel beating and spraying, a good vacuum to get the sticks out of the car and it was fine.
As for the passengers, his girlfriend seemed fine, bit of whiplash, he had cuts up his arm from trees and sore neck and back..
Very lucky but could have easily turned out the same as yours - Just because some guy in a 4wd thinks he owns the dirt road.
