The only error I get out of shorting the diagnostics is code 48, but the car hasn't stalled on me or had problems starting, could the Crank Angle Sensor be badly wired or dodgy and be causing such high fuel usage? I replaced the plugs, a bad lead and the fuel and air filters hoping it was a simple fix for the fuel economy, it almost sounds like the cars almost dying or hiccuping at idle as well, could that be alternator or just the CAS? cheers.

If it was a CAS issue the car would probably either be pinging its head off or just not working at all. More likely to be oxygen sensors, and the hiccupping/dying is likely because it's running rich.

Reset the ECU by unhooking the battery for 5 or so minutes to see if the CAS code clears and something else pops up.

Yeah i've reset computer a few times by shorting the battery and its still code 48, notably I didn't get it until I actually started the car, turned it off and checked again

Are you sure code 48 is CAS?

Alright I hate to beg to be spoonfed, but does anyone have documentation on the procedure for replacing the cam sensor?
