commodore 1997 vs 3.8L v6
hey i've got a 97 vs 3.8L sedan and the temp gauge ain't working what are some things i can troubleshoot to figure out why it's broken so i can fix

Could be as simple as the wire has come off the sensor located underneath the thermostat housing.

It's the single wire sensor not 2wire

where exactly is the thermostat housing located?

Follow the top hose from the radiator to the engine and look below where it connects

Even though it's plugged in, the shitty connector (one at the front that slides on) doesn't always work. Try cleaning it, then move forward & back to see if it registers.
Mine doesn't always come on straight away. Probably a cold solder joint on the dash cluster.

Agreed - either dirty connection or sticky dash needle. I've had both.
