VS ute series 2
No longer super familiar with Holdens from the VS to VY era so looking for some basic info

My brother in-law just gifted my so a vs ute with the Ecotec and 5 speed manual. I've since found out who the previous owner was and know he gave this thing a thrashing so looking at an engine swap so the lad doesn't have to be worried about it giving him issues on longer drives - currently only done about 15km in 1 trip since he's had it as he doesn't have his licence yet.

I have an opportunity to get a vx engine cheap that I'd rebuild so it's fresh as one can be but not sure if the later series engines would be a straight swap over?

Any help on this one? Cheers.

Biggest difference is the intake manifold and EGR. Use the VS intake manifold on the later motor with the VS fuel but I'd use the later 777 injectors from the VX motor.

Also vx fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator for the higher pressure.

You'll need to tap in the gauge temp sender, which is the single wire.

Is the tune going to be able to cope with these changes?

The 777 flow within (I think) 1% difference (less) than the original VS injectors. Closed loop will deal with it no problem and in open loop it will run a touch leaner and considering they are tuned really rich from the factory it won't make any difference really.

Yea, they flow at almost the same rate as each other just VT green runs at 3.5bar and VS fat blacks run at 3bar
