VT 3.8l Shut Downs

My Comm has been intermittently shutting down, while mostly in D but occasionally in R. All dash lights illuminate and 1st re-start has always been successful

More concerning is that this occurred today while doing approx 100kmhr following two moderate thuds/'pops' from motor. Kerbside all fluids were chkd OK as was the re-start. Operation over the next 20km was totally normal - no excessive revs, temp or noises

I also have starting issues from time-time where the engine cranks but fails to ignite. This is generally remedied by leaving the ignition on for about 5min before attempting re-start

neutral starting switch

try having a look for the neutral starting switch
somewhere around or under the shifter arm

it isolates ignition
check for frail wires
or check the part
something may have come loose
