I have a VT Calais I recently purchased (and now regretting lol) that I was driving home from work, it was perfectly fine most of the trip home until I got to 1 corner and the steering was all of a sudden very heavy and has been that way ever since.

So my question is.. what is most likely to just go completely and suddenly while in the middle of driving?

The pump? the rack? or the solenoid? or I guess something else?

Ive checked and topped up the fluid, checked the fuse and checked and topped up the tyre pressures.

Thanks in advance.

This happened to me when I was on my P's (and much younger) on my Pintara Wagon. Turned out that I didn't tighten the engine mounts tight enough and the entire thing was sitting on top of the steering column. I sold it for $50 to pick-a-part, cbf with it anymore.

Check the power steering fuse. The fuse is also for cruise control and power mirrors so if they still work don't bother checking the fuse.
