Hi all I just bought a VT and it has that horrible coolant smell and I want to bypass the heater core until I can replace it. I've found alot of info on how to do it but Im not sure where. Is it accessible through the engine bay or do I need to dismantle some of the dash? Thanks Josh.

Great pic thanks alot!! So I just join either the 2 hoses coming from the water pump, or the 2 coming out the water valve, either is fine? Also I was thinking of using some copper piping from bunnings does that sound ok? Cheers

to make it look nicer under the bonnet

you need to flare the ends of the copper pipe for the hose and clamp to hold

use a copper pipe bending spring to make the curve

If I was doing to do this loop pump end and plugs for the core end. Might have to do something with the vac to tap hose as well.

remove the tap and hoses.

Just loop it where the heater core connects, why remove it all when you're just going to have to put it all back in.
Can't simply plug it, it's designed to have coolant flowing through it at all times (heater on or off, that's why there is 4 connection on the tap).
You won't be able to run a hose from both points on the engine and loop it there either as they're 2 different sizes.

Interesting, why can't the heater pipes just be removed? What will happen?

Apologies to the OP if I've given him a bum steer!!
