VY
Im looking into buying a vx and I'm interested in converting the back end to a vy look. I was wondering how easy this would be and what would be involved? Would read quarters have to be cut and welded? I would like the conversion purely because of the more triangular tail lights. In this case would it be easier to fit a vz exec back end on there? Or would I be better off just biting the bullet and getting a vy?

Would be easier to buy a VY/Z and do the front end conversion. All those panels bolt on and can be had cheap. Would need guards, bar, bonnet, lights, re-inforcement panel? and paint.
A panel beater would charge you bulk coin to un pick then re stitch VY panels on to your VX. You would probably have to buy a doner VY with straight panels as i doubt they are available from Holden anymore.

Piece of cake, firstly sell the VX and then buy a VY! Conversion complete with the added bonus of not then asking how to hard it is to convert the interior from vx to vy
